This class isn’t strictly for over-40s, but the products and techniques we’ll focus on are designed with mature skin in mind — think fresh, natural, and lifted rather than heavy or overdone.

If your makeup bag hasn’t had a refresh in years or you’re unsure what actually suits your skin now, this class is for you. We’ll strip things back to the basics, help you understand what your skin really needs, and give you the confidence to shop smarter and rebuild your kit with purpose.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

Understanding your skin:
How to identify your skin type, recognise changes like dryness, oiliness, or sensitivity, and understand how those affect how makeup sits and lasts.

Skincare 101:
How to create a simple, effective skincare routine for your skin type. We’ll cover cleansing, exfoliation, moisturising, and SPF — plus the key ingredients worth knowing, like Vitamin C, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, and Niacinamide.

Shopping for makeup:
How to choose products that suit your skin — by colour, consistency, and ingredients. We’ll look at how to read labels, understand undertones, and pick the right formula for your needs and budget.

Base products explained:
What to know about primers, foundations, and concealers — how to select the right texture and shade, what to avoid, and how to make your base look natural and flattering.

Tools & brushes:
Which brushes and sponges are worth owning, what each one does, and where to spend or save.

Declutter & refresh:
How to tell what’s expired or no longer serving you, and how to build a modern, wearable makeup kit that actually works for your skin today.

Next we will learn how to apply a full make-up look from start to finish. You will learn how to do a soft glam look with tips about daily make-up along the way. This is for beginners and will be very thorough. (If you are a good at your make-up and want to learn something really glam then book into the salon for a 1-2-1 lesson instead, as this will be too basic for you!) These classes are for the ladies that are clueless and are fed up of crusty, dusty, out dated looking make-up! You don't want to wear heavy make-up but you feel like if you had a little guidance you would like to apply your make-up in a more youthful, fresh way. 

The most common thing I hear is that you haven't updated your make-up routine for 10 years but your face looks different, your skin is different and you don't want to be wearing make-up that doesn't suit you or isn't age appropriate now. 

For this class you do not need to bring any make-up. At some point in the future these classes may involve following along step by step with a mirror and your make-up but for now sit back, relax, and take notes. There is a lot to learn and I want you to focus on the knowledge and then practice at home instead of overwhelming you with information and trying to get it right first time in the class.

We will learn:

• How to enhance your eyebrows. Different application techniques.

• How to prep the eye for eyeshadow and apply a soft, natural eyeshadow.

• How to create an easy eyeliner.

• Applying mascara and false lashes.

• How to prep the skin for foundation.

• How to apply and blend foundation.

• Contouring, highlighting and blusher for beginners.

• Lipliner and lipstick application. How to match colours.

• How to use powders.

• Setting sprays and long lasting make-up tips.

If you would like an in-depth make-up lesson after attending the masterclass I will be offering all attendees 40% discount on 1-2-1 lessons so if we didn’t cover something that applies to you, you have a chance for a more personal lesson to fill in any gaps afterwards. (Or if you want to learn a full glam, ultra fabulous look as the next stage of your make-up journey!)

Please note this class will attempt to cover all skin types, skin colours, ethnicities, eye shapes and disabilities as best I can. At this time, these classes are female attendees only.

Classes are in group sizes of 6. Please do not bring babies or young children. The class is in the Barber Shop next to my salon and has plenty of car parking and road parking. There is a small step at the entrance - wheelchairs have managed this in the past however if you have any mobility concerns, please let me know so I can make sure you’re comfortable on the day. I will provide nut-free refreshments and drinks. If you have any other airborne allergies please let me know prior to attending. There are unfortunately no refunds but I am happy for you to resell to a friend or family if you can’t attend. Photos will be taken on the evening please let me know if you wish not to be in any photos.
